I’m looking for a radio scanner for my grandpa who lives near El Dorado. He wants to be able to listen to local airports and aircraft near his house, and maybe some police frequencies as well, without having to set up a big outdoor antenna. I have found several general purpose scanners with good indoor antennas on Ebay, but I recently heard that many newer aircraft/police radios use digital modes instead of the traditional analog modes. I was wondering if there are scanners that can scan analog and also scan (and decode) digital modes too? I haven’t found anything like that so far online.
